We went to the pediatrician today. This was Deacon's 9 month check-up and invovled getting 5 shots again just like last time. He did awesome while the nurse and doctor squished his body and measured and stuff. He is 19 lbs., 27" tall and his head got bigger since last time. I think this puts him in the 25th percentile for most things. Luckily drummers/ baseball players don't need to be tall.
The shots are not fun, but Deacon recovers quickly. He cries while being stabbed, but then when picked up after, he sticks his right pointer finger in his mouth and is calm. I think at his 1 year appt. they will take blood and run some tests and we will probably do another HIV test then. Fun things we get to start now include sippy cups and meat!!! Not together of course, that would be gross, meat in a sippy cup, yuck.
Deacon has started exploring his vocal range and decibal level. He really likes to squeal/scream. It's funny for the first 2 or 3 times and then it's a little bit crazy. I don't know if/when I should try and curb the screaming. Also, he will reach for me now when he is handed around to people. I don't want him to be clingy, but I like that he wants me instead of other people. He is also a Ladies Man. Doesn't care for much interaction with men (except Clayton of course).
We'll try to get some fun video to post soon of his new tricks. He is napping right now and then we go to music class to sing and dance and chew on the rhythym instruments.

I had so much fun hanging out with him today!!! The vocal range is a "fun" thing to deal with, but most people understand!! Give him a big hug for us!!
A little clingy is a good thing developmentally speaking. It shows that he recognizes you as his attachment figure and that is very very healthy for a baby. It can be a real pain when your child screams bloddy murder for a few minutes when you are leaving him/her at daycare or a sitter's but it is a good sign. WHat a cutie.
