Not getting ill in a foriegn country: Priceless
Had fun at the Travel Health Services yesterday. Today is not so good though. I guess your body is bound to feel funny after you get 4 shots of bacteria or whatever is in those shots. For Typhoid we got the oral vaccine. I'm supposed to call our doctor to get a prescrip for an anti-biotic and for the malaria meds. The nurse explained all the different malaria meds we can choose from...Talk about the lesser of all evils...The first one you take once a week for about 4 weeks. BUT, it has side effects of hallucinating and nightmares...I have nightmares already, so I don't need any medical help on that one. The other two you have to take daily I think for either 1-4 weeks. They also have side effects or are pretty pricey b/c there is no generic.
I like to console myself with the facts that we are being safe and that when we travel in a couple of years to asia or south america to bring Deacon's little sister home, we won't have to do these shots again. That's right, we aren't even done with this adoption and I can tell you already we are planning number 2. But not for at least 2 years.
Still waiting for referral. But we should complete our training stuff this weekend. I'm going to CPR for my volunteering at Cook Children's Hospital and we are reading "There is no me without you" and we are going to do one more online class. That should cover us. Then I'll have a good reason to email Mary about how much longer it might be.
