now it feels like i'm having a baby...

One of the hardest parts of adopting for me has been the lack of recognition from the rest of the world. I mean, unless I tell someone that we are adopting, they'll never know...I've got no baby bump! I've thought about wearing the same shirt everyday that says "I'm having a baby! But he's in Ethiopia and we still aren't sure when we'll go get him and first we have to get all our shots just to travel and then make sure we get his visa before we can bring him home!" And no one is going to read anything on a shirt that has that many words....

I started a baby registry on target and babies r us and it felt weird. It shouldn't feel weird, we are having a baby. A real, live, squishy, screaming baby. But because we are separated by half a planet and we haven't seen his face yet, it felt weird registering. Of course, I'm great at registering for presents, so I powered through and now have 2 fun registries.

When Clayton and I were engaged, one of the most fun things to do, was sign in and look at our registries and see what gifts we were going to get. I've begun that same ritual with the baby registries. And I'm proud to announce...SOMEONE BOUGHT US CRIB SHEETS!!! YAY!!! It finally feels real. Like the rest of the world has acknowledged the gigantic life change we are going through and bought us sheets!!!

I'm very excited about the sheets! I know this entire post will probably make sense to no one else...but I had to express.

Dossier and Crib Done

Woo-Hoo!!! We got our I-171h in the mail today and we got it notarized and mailed off today! Dossier is Done!!! In honor of the dossier being done I bought a crib from Craigslist. (Note: never forget the first s in craigslist, you do not want to see what pops up!) Here is a pic of it with the donated crib matress from Christi!


It cost $50.00 and it is the color I wanted and it's the Jenny Lind crib which I loved. Now we just need some sheets for it and we're almost ready for our baby!!!
