home study check!!!

So, I've been getting a little antsy. I spent a month gathering papers and stuff and then mailed it all off. I've been feeling very unproductive. So this morning I emailed Tonia just to see if they needed anything else from me (of course, what I was really doing was letting them know I'm needy and would like an update). She emailed me back a couple of hours later and said that she had the home study and that everything looked good!!! Woo-Hoo!! She said she would be contacting us later today and I'm very excited about the next step.

I also washed all the baby clothes that Clayton's mom gave me that she saved from Clayton's baby years. One word: Dyn-O-Mite! I'll post pics later of my fave pieces from the vintage collection. I wasn't even sure how to wash that much polyster and acetone. Just by feeling the fabric, I'm pretty sure it doesn't meet flame-resistant standards. I think I could start a bonfire with some of that stuff.

It also looks like everyone has agreed with me on the not naming a baby True. Thank you for not voting for that one. There is one suprise vote for Preston. I like that name, but just not as much as Deacon or Noah. So keep up the voting!

YAY!!!

I just received an email from KBS Dossier and she said that everything looked great!!! Woo-Hoo! All we are waiting on is our homestudy documents and our CIS approval letter. I can do nothing but wait about both of these documents, so I'm done for now!!! Seriously, it is like a 10-ton boulder has just been lifted. We are a few steps closer to our baby now! YAY!!!

Out of our hands

This morning before the ice storm rolled in I fedexed our dossier to KBS Dossiers. Now it is out of my hands for a while. I'm hoping we get our homestudy within the next 2 weeks or so. That's about it on the adoption front. We just joined the Ft. Worth area Gladney Family Association. So now we can start going to events and getting involved with people in the adoption community. We also have to do some training and we can do that online through Gladney.

I'm currently reading Dim Sum, Bagels and Grits: A sourcebook for multicultural families. It is really good and is making me think of things I would have never thought of on my own. Things about when our child goes to school and has to do the family tree project and what possibilities there are for that project besides the 'tree'. You can do a garden or a family wheel instead. Also, there are specific things about what our situation will be (white parents, african baby). It is really great because it is full of resources.

During our down time we really want to go to some of the Ethiopian restaurants that are around Dallas. I'm not known for enjoying new foods, but I'll give it a try.

One Step Closer

We got Clayton's birth certificate today. One more letter about insurance to get. We are almost done with our paperwork part. Also, I changed the format of our poll so it should work now. Sorry it didn't work.
