Molehill

It's funny how molehills become mountains before your very eyes when you forget, for even a second, that we believe in a God that is good all the time. You would have thought our baby had died the way I was crying yesterday when I found out that the pic we having been attaching to wasn't a pic of our baby. By the way ladies, don't call your husband crying like a maniac and only squeak out "Mary called..." before breaking down in sobs unless you want your husband to think your baby died. Lesson learned. Of course, Clayton was my rock and said "That's it, a different picture?" It took me a little longer to get over it. But I can confidently say that looking back, I over-reacted. Which is so unlike me.....(Hahahaaa)

Our baby's info is all the same. Same story, same stats, same sweet little baby. Just a different head. And let's face it, Ethiopia seems to have market cornered on cute babies so it's no biggie. I love this picture even more because he's got a little grin going on and he is squishier. I'm sure that was something i put on our application: squishy baby face.

I'd also like to point out that everyone makes mistakes, we hold no grudge against Gladney and still give 5 stars (out of 5) for service. How could we be upset with the people that have helped our dream become a reality? They are over there working hard to get these babies forever families, and people sometimes make mistakes...who hasn't made a mistake?

So, we are still waiting for a travle date and it looks like we might be traveling with the Bottomlys. Yay! Now my prayers include open rooms at the hilton or sheraton and cheap flights. I still can't believe we are going to ETHIOPIA!!! I don't think I could have told you where Ethiopia was on a map this time last year. But then I took Geography last semester and I can tell you lots about planet Earth.

Also, I'm just going to put it out there because the last time I typed something it came true (maybe this is a magic blog)...But I'd love to travel on May 9th (we go wed-wed) because that means.....I'd spend my first Mother's Day in Ethiopia with our son!!!! Whoop!!! ( I can say that b/c my sister is an Aggie!)

Margo - I think I would have reacted the same exact way, but I think you are having a very good recovery from the initial surprise. The "real" Deacon looks like an angel - squishy faces are very good! We're all still out here pulling for you, so here's to May 9!!! I can't remember if you mentioned his age? Heidi D.

Hi Heidi!
He is 6 months old! He'll be 7 months when we bring him home and his birthday is Sept. 27, 2006. Thanks for your support. It means a lot to us!!

Deacon is so cute. I am glad to see that you have recovered from your intial shock...I would have cried too. But, it sounds like you have a good supportive husband like I do. What would we do without them :). Can't wait to hear about a travel date. Amy
