pot calling kettle....

I don't know if I mentioned this ever, but Clayton lost his passport probably when we got home from our honeymoon about 4.5 years ago. And I was freaking out about how that would hold us up on paperwork and I need the passport number and we have to pay extra to expedite it because I need a copy of it for our dossier.

Well, we got his passport yesterday and I went to make copies of mine and his passport and realized in all the freaking out I didn't notice what name is on my passport...Margo White!!!!!!!!! Aaararhghgahgh. I was so excited that I hadn't lost mine that I didn't even notice it was still my maiden name.

Clayton wondered if that really mattered and why can't I still use it and I reminded him that we are dealing with about 4 different governmental institutions both stateside and abroad and yeah, they might be picky about my name not being CORRECT....

I'm a little upset at the actual passport hold up, but not that much because Clayton got his passport in about 2 weeks, so I've got time to get mine. And it is much better to realize this now then when we are boarding our 60 billion hour flight to Africa. I'm mostly upset because of all the picking on Clayton about losing his passport and then I realize mine is not even useful...This is why the bible says that thing about a splinter in his eye and a plank in mine.

But, I'm not a whiner...Bright side is I get a new picture on my passport!! Yay!! I guess the day I took the last passport pictures back in 2002 there had been a severe shortage in cuteness, becasue it is not a flattering picture of me. And if I do anything well, it's take cute pictures even on identification. My drivers license pic is adorable and I'll keep it till I'm 70.

Don't forget- Home Study is Monday!

sorry to tell ya but yeah, you need your current name on your passport. They are getting SUPER picky about this sort of thing. Oh and don't complain about the flight and travel. I just go through traveling 24 HOURS STRAIGHT! AGHHH! But yeah...we're here. See you soon!

I adopted in 2005 from Russia. I too, had my maiden name on my passport. I filed for the name change to be added to the back. This was a cheaper, quicker option--thereby making it the best--or so I THOUGHT! In hindsight, I would reccommend getting a completely new passport with your married name. Every single stop, both trips, that dumb passport triggered a security check. One stern German/British/Russian (you name it, they all did the same thing) airport person would stare at the passport and flip to the back and look at me and then ask for my tickets then flip back to the front and call over another stern German/British/Russian and repeat the process. And the whole time I am saying in very slow English. The---front---of----the----passport---has----my-----maiden----name. The---back----of----the----passport---has----the-----LEGAL----addendum. Save yourself alot of frustration and don't get the addendum. File for a new passport.
