We've been trying to answer that question for the last month or so, with the application waiting to be filled out and sent in. There are lots of loan and grant options. There is also the hope of the income tax credit afterward.
The first option we are going with is using some of my retirement savings. Since I started working at Grace I've been saving for retirement, $50 per week. We're going to take out about half of our total savings to get this next ball rolling in the process. We figure we are still young, with lots of working years ahead [hopefully], and retirement is a long way off. Having a baby in the house and a son to love is much more important than having a cushy bank account waiting for us in 40 years.
Tomorrow I have a doctors appointment for the application. I hope I'm healthy enough to adopt a baby.

We are anxious to start applying for grants...We are hoping that Josh's English Teacher writing skills will help us out. ;) We can start applying I believe once the home study is typed up and approved. We are trusting, as I am sure you guys are, that this desire is from the Lord and the financial end will work out...one way or another.
Umm..you guys live near Dallas right? Well, I have a BF, Courntey, in Dallas...actually they live in Allen. Her husband is a worship leader at their church in Wylie...I can't remember the name of the church right now though. Anyway, thats fun right..both your husbands are worship leaders. Maybe they know each other...his name is Steve Horvath...ring any bells? :)
Some food for thought....
I am a Gladney mom and my daughter is from China. Some idea's for "paying" for the adoption....
- Have several huge garage sales (collect all your friends / familes unwanted goods and sell them at one or more sales).
- EBAY... sell some of the things you have saved and thought you couldn't live without on EBAY... you would be amazed at what people will buy. (and what they will pay)
- Have a golf, tennis, (or some other event) outing; If you have a large network of familiy and friends you will be amazed at the help people will extend for such a fantastic cause.
- Don't forget to ask you employers if they have adoption assistance programs... some do and it may not be well publicized.
I have helped several families raise money to help offset the cost of thier adoption. These have been effective means to do so, and I hope they spark some ideas for you.
Good luck to you and your family!!!
Robin
